Located in quaint Hillsboro, Indiana, we’ve been offering theatre enthusiasts, families, and church groups quality entertainment and homemade meals for decades. From our professional book musicals (like The Sound of Music, Anything Goes, and Fiddler on the Roof) to productions specifically written for our stage (such as I Owe It All to Agatha Christie and It Ain’t O.K. at the O.K. Corral), it’s always a great time at Myers Dinner Theatre. Our stage also regularly hosts Gospel groups willing to share their musical talents and the Good News.
In addition to top-caliber entertainment, our guests enjoy delicious homemade food made with love and high-quality ingredients. Plus, our menus are always tailored to the performance, meaning guests have an experience that simply can’t be beat!
Our intimate, 145-seat house has excellent sightlines and acoustics, and we hope you’ll feel right at home, or at least like you’re visiting Grandma and Grandpa. You will always be greeted with a smile and treated like family. We strive to live up to our slogan: You may come as a guest, but we will do everything we can to make sure you leave as family!
The performance, food, and hospitality of MDT is second to none…You have an Indiana treasure in your theatre and performers.
We’ve been blessed with passionate actors and actresses.
We do not require actors to have a formal acting background or education. We’ve been blessed with very talented casts for decades and are thankful for the realness and passion our actors bring to the stage.
Richard runs the kitchen.
Owners Donna and Richard Myers are truly invested in Myers Dinner Theatre, which is why Richard himself runs the kitchen. With the help of our kitchen staff, Richard takes the time to plan themed menus for each show and will even plan according to our guests’ dietary needs if they call ahead.
No one leaves without a hug from Donna.
When you’re at MDT, you might as well be at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We love our guests and our community, and God has given us an opportunity to use theatre to serve and connect with others. When you leave, you are guaranteed a hug from Grandma Donna Myers.
All eight of our bathrooms have a different theme.
This might sound funny, but when you visit us, you will definitely want to take a look at our themed restrooms. Donna loves to decorate and has put time into making each bathroom fun for guests to tour. Current themes include a garden, a fishing lodge, Victorian, and Noah’s ark, just to name a few. A favorite by many though is our outhouse!
It’s like having a slice of Broadway in your own backyard.
Richard and Donna Myers have been a dynamic duo since saying “I do.” Now in their 70’s, the couple started their lives together by running a bridal shop out of a restored mansion in Danville, Illinois. While they sold wedding gowns during the day, the couple began dabbling in theatre at night and hosting small shows in their store.
Richard and Donna’s dabbling turned into an exciting opportunity to serve and connect with people, and the couple decided to rent a small space in Waynetown, Indiana to officially open the theatre we know and love. From the start, Myers’ mission has been to provide high-quality theatrical experiences in a wholesome Christian atmosphere, making Myers Dinner Theatre the perfect entertainment venue for families and church groups.
When Myers outgrew the small Waynetown theatre, Richard and Donna began looking for another space. While they thought the theatre would remain in Waynetown, God had other plans. Richard and Donna purchased their current building in Hillsboro, Indiana in 2002. Prior to being a theatre, the building held racquetball courts and was in need of quite a bit of work to be able to function as a theatre. Years later, Myers Dinner Theatre is a staple in Hillsboro, Indiana, and we are thankful to be part of a hospitable, charming community.
Richard and Donna leased the theatre for a short time but returned in 2016 with a strong desire to restore Myers Dinner Theatre to what it was before they left. Through homemade meals and theatrical productions, Richard, Donna, and their staff want to raise the spirits of those who are low, bring a sense of peace to those in need, hear the laughter reach the rafters, and bring a message of hope through theatre with a purpose.
You may come as a guest, but we will do everything we can to make sure you leave Myers Dinner Theatre as family.
